Compassionate Communities

In September Sight Concern hosted two Compassionate Communities sessions. One in Bedford and one in Luton which was open to all volunteers and staff. The sessions were facilitated by trainers from Keech Hospice Care.

The workshop aimed to give people the skills to be able to care for one another at times of crisis and loss whether in the community, family or work. Creation of Compassionate Communities recognises that care for one another at times of crisis and loss is not simply a task solely for health and social services, but is everyone’s responsibility.

All the attendees found that the session was thought provoking and raised their awareness around death and dying. The format was discussion and sharing knowledge and experience around the theme rather than imparting large amounts of information.
