Sight Concern Thanks BLCF for Funding
Sight Concern Bedfordshire would like to thank BLCF who awarded this funding as part of the Luton Rising – Community Investment Fund.
We worked with over 840 blind and partially sighted people in Luton.
This funding was awarded by BLCF as part of the Luton Rising- Community Investment Fund.
We supported:
Independence, wellbeing and reducing isolation
417 people with specialist services support “you didn’t give up on me,
even when I’d given up on myself” 262 calls, over 500 social club
attendances and 44 home visits “my weekly call brightens up my day,
I am so grateful that someone makes the time to talk to me”.
Economic wellbeing
58 people through benefits help to overcome poverty, bringing benefits worth over £280k this year. Since being awarded PIP benefit a beneficiary has new accommodation and decent furniture and said they feeling happy for the first time since losing their sight.
Digital Inclusion
43 people supported with assistive technology support “without asking for support I can now put on talking books or the radio”
